World Tinnitus Day 2018

The Initiative

World Tinnitus Day is almost ready to kick off! Today is the 4th year of our global campaign. We developed this concept back in 2015 with the aim of bringing everyone together to raise awareness of tinnitus at a set date and time.

The theme for this year is “Time To Take Action”. We will be posting 12 posters, each one at a certain time. Each poster will include a fact linked to the number on the clock. The idea behind this campaign is to raise awareness of how debilitating tinnitus can be for people worldwide.

Statistics show that around 9 million people bypass treatment for hearing loss because they believe nothing can be done about their tinnitus.

Anyone who suffers from tinnitus may be aware of the line “you just have to live with it”. It’s time to change that. There is hope. There are methods that could help to manage or alleviate tinnitus. There is no one size fits all solution and there is no cure but there may be something out there that will help. Let’s stop the world from ignoring this, let’s educate people about this issue and change the thinking behind the line mentioned above.

We want you to know that you are not alone, there are 300+ million people worldwide that live with tinnitus. We hope this campaign will help to encourage people to share their experiences and their stories supporting others in taking action!

You can check out the schedule for today below. Make sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter to follow our campaign from 1 pm (BST).
